Doug Stark

 

Doug has been with UTMB since 2000 as Director of Organizational and Workforce Development and has spent the last 35 years in employee involvement, quality, training and organizational development.  He has worked in a variety of industries including the development and implementation of complete training and development curriculums in seven different industries (Automotive, Health Care, Academic Healthcare, Retail, Courier/Air Freight, Public Utility, & Sales/Distribution) which addressed Supervisory, Management and Leadership Development, Teamwork, Quality, and Customer Service.

Doug has been very active in several quality professional organizations and is Past President of the Houston Chapter of the Association of Quality and Participation (AQP).  Doug has served at a National AQP level as Region 7 Director, Secretary and Vice President to the National Board of Directors and has served four terms as the President of the National Board of Directors. He is currently a member of American Society for Training and Development, a volunteer at and Serves on the Board of Directors of the Galveston Humane Society.  He is a member of the UT Leadership Development Committee and the UT Employee Advisory Committee.  He also serves as Advisor to the UTMB Employee Advisory Committee.

Doug has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and a Master of Arts in Organizational Communications. He recently earned an Organizational Development Certificate from Linkage International.  He has also been certified to deliver several assessments including LH Step, Birkman, Myers-Briggs, DISC, and Emotional Intelligence. He has also received several development program certifications on topics including Facilitation, Group Process, Customer Service, Consultative Sales, Leadership, Employee Relations Law, ISO9000 Auditor/Lead Auditor, Quality Tools & Processes, Management Development, Training & Development, Using Graphics to Facilitate, Emotional Intelligence, and Service Excellence.

Mary Ann Hellinghausen

Mary Ann is a writer in the Office of Public Affairs, with a major focus on preparing communications for Executive Leadership, particularly for the President. She writes articles promoting UTMB for internal and external publications, takes photographs and provides writing support for Marketing and Development. She came to UTMB in March 2011.

Mary Ann has extensive experience in public affairs, marketing and journalism. She has been a reporter for the Houston Chronicle, Waco Tribune-Herald and Bay Area Citizen. She has worked with other health care organizations in marketing/public affairs, and has written as a freelancer for the Greater Houston Partnership, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, NurseWeek and HealthWeek magazines, and others. She also has been published in Highlights for Children magazine.

Mary Ann has a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been involved in the Clear Lake/Galveston County community through Communities in the Schools, Go Red for Women, American Heart Association, A Visit from Saint Nicholas and as a pastoral council member at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. Her hobbies include tennis and reading. She and her husband Bill have two daughters in college.
