Primary Care Pavilion now open

 
 

Approximately a dozen UTMB clinics will be relocating from other campus sites to the freshly-renovated Primary Care Pavilion (PCP), located at 400 Harborside Drive.

The first to move in on May 21 were Allergy, Clinical Laboratory Services, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Orthopaedics, Radiology/Imaging, Rheumatology and Stark Diabetes. 

Family Medicine, Island Pediatrics East, Physical & Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health and Employee Health will make the move in June, once construction is completed.

The PCP offers ample parking and easy front-door access. Those who visited their physicians here before will feel right at home; new patients will be pleased by the convenience, efficiency and relaxing atmosphere.

It is very exciting to launch our Ambulatory Operations blog at the beginning of Hospital/Nurses Week, the week when the hard work and contributions of all Health System employees all year are recognized. There are several events planned for the week, culminating in the Annual Ambulatory Operations Picnic. On Tuesday, breakfast will be delivered to all clinics by the directors, while employees on campus may also visit the breakfast buffet in John Sealy. On Friday, the Nursing Retention Council will deliver cakes to all clinics.  Several other events and recognitions are planned, so visit iUTMB or check with your managers for more details. The picnic for clinic employees, physicians and their families is on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, on the grounds of the UTMB campus at the Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes, featuring food, fun, games and some friendly competition. Employees of the Quarter for first and second quarters of the fiscal year will also be recognized.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all in Ambulatory Operations for the achievements we are making in growing our patient numbers on the mainland, maintaining our patient numbers on the island, and significantly increasing our patient satisfaction scores. And we have done all this in the midst of some significant ongoing changes. MyChart has been implemented, the institution is moving the entire revenue cycle to the Epic platform, the UTMB Connect project, we have opened new clinics, and are planning to reopen the Primary Care Pavilion(PCP) in May and to “restack” the UHC Building (UHC now stands for UTMB Health Clinics). This could not have been accomplished without the coordinated team work of you all, and an understanding and commitment to our goals. On an institutional level, the Culture of Trust initiative has been launched, focusing on quality, safety and the patient experience.

This blog has been created to house up-to-date information on patient satisfaction, nursing updates, employee recognition, operational updates and much more.  Communication with our clinic employees and physicians is very important, and we think that this will be the most effective way to keep you informed in a timely manner, and share goals, achievements and solicit feedback. Over the next few weeks, I am inviting the AVPs and Directors to use the blog to share their ideas and thoughts on continuing to build our team to enable us all to Work Together to Work Wonders.

So thank you again for all you do for our patients, physicians and to support Health System Operations. Please use this blog to communicate your thoughts and concerns. We look forward to your participation.
