Currently, one visit to UTMB Health could result in a patient receiving multiple bills. However, with the April 6 go-live of utmbconnect, we will now offer our patients a single billing statement that combines all of the balances for their health care encounters across the UTMB Health enterprise, including inpatient stays, clinic visits and related charges.
The image below (click to enlarge) shows an example of the first page of the new statement, which clearly shows the adjustments of total new charges and recent payments applied to the account followed by a single, easily-to-read balance owed. On the following pages of the statement, details reflect the specifics of each visit.
UTMB will now also offer a single point of customer service for patients to help streamline assistance with billing questions, instead of requiring our patients to call separate offices for hospital/clinic and provider charges, as it has been up until now.
In addition, in the clinic setting, Patient Services Specialists will be able to discuss outstanding balances and conveniently assist patients by collecting payments toward any balance due, helping the patient stay current with their health care financial responsibilities.
