KirstiAnn joined UTMB in January 2015 as a senior communications specialist in the Office of Marketing and Communications. Her responsibilities include writing and taking photos for UTMB’s employee newsletter, Impact; managing the employee intranet, iUTMB; and serving on the Internal Communication Council, which meets weekly to develop talking points for Weekly Relay leaders.
Originally from Seattle, KirstiAnn has lived in many cities around the country since graduating from Boston University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She started her television news career as a reporter, producer and anchor in a small town in Eastern Washington State. After two years of being a “one-man-band,” she moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where she reported on state government and produced several documentaries, including one on alligator farming. Before moving to Houston in 2014, she also worked with media as a press assistant for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, North Carolina.
When she’s not stuck underneath her two lazy cats, KirstiAnn and her husband enjoy running along the Buffalo Bayou and trying the wide variety of cuisines that Houston has to offer.
As an advisor to the EAC, KirstiAnn attends and participates in all meetings, providing institutional perspective and support to EAC members. KirstiAnn hopes to help make a difference meeting the needs of all employees spread across UTMB’s three campuses, various clinics and Correctional Managed Care units.
